Sweet emotions, coming from the fingers of Anthony Joseph Pereira from Lawrence, Massachusetts. The transition to Joe Perry: Guitar God began at 14, when The Beatles performed live on The Ed Sullivan Show - a 1964 event that changed more than a few lives (See: Tom Petty). Inspired by The Fab Four, Perry formed The Jam Band with Tom Hamilton, and that morphed into Aerosmith, with Brad Whitford, Joey Kramer and Steven Tyler joining the band for their first gig at Miscoe Hill School in tiny Mendon, Massachusetts. At first written off as a Rolling Stones knockoff, Aerosmith began their long run, with Joe Perry powering hits Dream On, Same Old Song and Dance, Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way and Back in the Saddle. Where Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were known as The Glimmer Twins, the skinny/pretty Joe Perry and Steven Tyler were tagged The Toxic Twins for their sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyles. You could write a book. Many books: One per decade. One per album. Hits, fights, tours, fighting wives, reunions, hospitalizations. Not all the emotions were sweet, Joe Perry and Aerosmith landed themselves into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
